Kristin is a partner in our Financial Services Organization, based in the Oslo office. As a risk management leader we follow her on her journey to where she is now at EY.

Tell us a bit more about yourself.

I’m a partner in our Financial Services Organization, based in the Oslo office. I’m also part of our Nordic financial services risk management leadership team. I lead our work within risk management, focusing on insurance and asset management. This means that I support our clients in understanding and managing their risks, using emerging technologies and advanced modelling techniques.

Why did you choose EY?

EY has a very strong culture. We are market leaders in our field, and we are always looking to improve and innovate. We are also very good at teaming and supporting each other. Whenever I reach out to a colleague, both locally and internationally, they respond quickly and always offer to help. This means that I learn something new every day.

What do you like most about your role?

As a partner, I’m responsible for a wide range of projects. The last year I have been involved in topics from machine learning to blockchain, internal audit, internal model validation, financial crime, cyber risk and accounting change. This is only possible because I have great teams that work together to understand complex issues. They are also curious and creative in applying new technologies and techniques to find the best solution together with our clients.

How would you describe the people at EY? How have they contributed to your experience so far?

People at EY are strong professionals as well as being very curious and creative. They are also highly supportive and engaging individuals and I really enjoy being part of such a dedicated and high-performing team.

Tell us more about the training programs at EY.

Most of the learning is on the job, but EY also has a number of excellent formal training programs. Many of them are led by partners and senior managers from EY. Being involved in the programs is great fun and also provides excellent training for the facilitators. This year I was one the facilitators at our Advisory Nordic new senior program. +100 senior consultants and eleven partners and senior managers spent one week in Toledo, Spain. We learned about social styles, project management, feedback, coaching, delegation and “finding your why”. I’m also the sponsoring partner for our EMEIA Financial Services Risk Management technical learning event. +700 colleagues from across Europe and beyond meet in the Netherlands to learn more about digital trust, the future of risk, machine learning, regtech, IBOR transition, innovation in internal audit, financial crime as well as innovation and more.
